Copenhagen is testing a new type of tile that helps reduce flooding in cities hit by increased rainfall due to climate change. Designed by architecture studio Tredje Natur, the tiles serve as a supplement to existing drainage systems. The tiles are peppered with a system of holes, tunnels and ridges that collect rainwater and funnel it away from sidewalks to a preferred use like irrigating nearby plantings.
