In many cities public urination is a big – not to mention foul-smelling – problem. Now, French designers have come up with a simple solution to make public peeing not only more civilised, but also more eco-friendly. The Uritrottoir looks like a large decorative planter with a small opening at the front. Inside, it’s filled with either dry straw, sawdust or wood chips that soak up the urine and absorb the odour. Eventually, the organic material is collected and transformed into compost to be used in parks and gardens.
